Italian Traditions meet Naramata Heritage!
Lindsay and Tony
September 3rd, 2011
Naramata, B.C.
Many thanks to Photographer Jessica Haydahl, from Vancouver for a few highlight images of Lindsay and Tony's day. There are more to come, but this will show you just how this extraordinary heritage location became the backdrop for not just a marriage ceremony but also the uniting of two families. One side flew in from Italy, the other from the Lower Mainland of B.C. A merging of families, traditions and celebrations. This location held treasured memories from childhood summers spent in this location. So it was a no brainer that this is where their wedding venue should be. A nostalgic location for an awesome celebration.

The "LOCATION"
The "DETAILS"
- since Photographer Jessica is still away on sabbatical in Europe, I have interjected (below) a few of my own photos, but I am awaiting her return to receive some more professional pics. We'll just have to wait.
With a nod or two, here and there, Lindsay paid special attention to Tony's Italian heritage and honoring the guests who flew in especially from Italy for the function. The blessing before dinner was spoken in Italian with a traditional Italian Wedding Toast. The bride went to the trouble of taking Italian lessons, so when it came to her speech, she gave it in Italian and quite comically the groom (who is Italian) translated it in English.
(above) - Guest sign in. 3 bottles of wine. Being wine lovers, the couple would open a bottle to relive the memories of this day. On their 1st year anniversary a bottle from New Zealand (to remember family members and travel memories). On the 5th year anniversary, one from the Okanagan to remember their wedding day, and on their 10th year to remember Tony's Italian Heritage and family.
Table names were Block wooden letters, which spelled out numbers from one to eleven in Italian! Uno, due, tre, quattro etc.
Seating Cards: Following in their theme of birds and cages, the place cards were laser cut outs in the shape of a sitting bird. Simple yet elegant.
Card Holder: A gilded bird cage!
