Charming Vintage Venue!
As a Kelowna Wedding Planner, I am always sourcing new venues for local and Okanagan Destination brides. This newest venue is superb for a small to mid sized, elegantly Vintage or Garden-Party themed, wedding reception.
This beautiful Heritage Home and Carriage house sits on a sprawling, beautifully flat 320 ft. deep property, adjacent to a park. With peaceful landscaped surroundings and vintage architecture, it is located centrally in the downtown core of Kelowna, within walking distance of beaches, restaurants and hotels.
Originally built in 1905 as one of the first Edwardian homes in Kelowna, it is now magnificently restored through the design passion of local award winning designer Suzanne Petti. The gracious and worldly hosts Don and Linda provide exclusive service to each and every event booking.
The venue offers several possibilities for Wedding Couples. Outdoor weddings in what will be their newly landscaped parklike grounds (slated for spring of 2012) with a max. of 70 guests. The ceremony under the umbrella like canopy of an old Chestnut tree and a tented wedding reception amongst beautiful flower beds and private setting. The bonus here is that your guests can flow all around the property, inside and out. From the main floor of the Guest house, upper and lower decks, and even an indoor banquet room with bar and multi media surround sound theatre system built in.
Bonus too, is that the Bride and Bridesmaids can rent the guest rooms for their stay, order in mobile pampering, have a terrific "Getting Ready" photography shoot indoors and then the girls formals in the gardens. Guests arrive and can be welcomed with a glass of champagne, red carpet and valet service, the ceremony begins outdoors enveloped in a backdrop of gorgeous floral color. Afterward the yard lends itself to cocktail and food stations as well as a full tented reception.
Later the guests can move the party into the Studio banquet room for a slide presentation and dancing/bar. Better still, rent the house an extra day and have a catered Rehearsal Dinner in their banquet room that transforms from a comfortable social space with lounges and seating to a bistro like dance hall or dining space for up to 50 persons. During the day, the couple can take respite, to an outdoor deck, a private area decorated as a sitting room, for some private moments to reflect on the days activities.
This home and grounds has an old world charm that transforms us to a by-gone era, but with all the amenities and modern accouterments. So why not make a Wedding Weekend of it at Lindon House.

Quaaout Lodge, Talking Rock Resort, Little Shuswap Lake, B.C.
Many thanks to Matt Kennedy for his professional photos. With such an exquisitely scenic location and fun couple to work with Matt has offered us a beautiful glimpse into Tiffany and Josh's awesome wedding day festivities at Quaaout Lodge, nestled amongst the pines, lakeside. As avid golfers, this couple spent a fabulous week of golfing, spa activities and games with friends and family before the big day. The weather cooperated perfectly giving them warmth into the night for their alfresco reception event, under the stars. It was the perfect venue and location for their "Tropical" inspired destination wedding. They then flew off to Hawaii to extend their themed week while on their honeymoon.

Ooh La La!
The theme to this year's opulent Creme de la Creme Bridal Showcase at the Four Seasons Hotel on November 6th, was Romance with a Parisien feel. The French have such style when it comes to romance, and with the new drama unfolding in the Bridal Runway gown designs for 2012, this set the tone for this years event. As a Kelowna Wedding Planner I attend these shows in order to keep up to date with the latest and most innovative of wedding trends and styles. This show caters to discerning brides and is the most extravagant bridal event of the year in Vancouver.
I had the pleasure of attending a presentation by guest speaker Preston Bailey, Wedding designer extraordinaire to celebrities around the world. Definitely his influence was forefront in the "over the top" floral displays at this years show. Ultra extravagant displays of volumes of flowers to make an outstanding eye catching impact.
(above) Terrific presentation idea by the Four Seasons. They displayed a dessert table and used a crystal tree centerpiece wrapped in satin ribbon to display their doughnuts and candy floss on. We have to learn to look at props in so many different ways. Think out of the box and utilize a prop in a different manner. The unexpected, is the WOW factor.
COUTURE RUNWAY FASHION SHOW!
A spectacular canopied entry to the runway. Flowing with drapery fabric, a canopy of trailing dendrobium orchid and crystal Leis, around a central crystal chandelier.
Glamorous haute couture dresses, showcasing designers like Monique Lhuillier, Oscar de la Renta, Vera Wang and Canadian designer Ines DiSanto.
I hope you got some inspiration from one or two of these stylings. I had such a fun time at the show and will look forward to see how they top this in 2012.
